Description
Updating the SyncStation firmware:
There may be situations where you have to perform a firmware upload for the SyncStation, e.g. when a firmware update is available, or when the SyncStation does not boot correctly.
Caution: Make sure that Nuendo is not running when you use the upload application, because this would result in failure of the upload and corrupted firmware.
To update the firmware, proceed as follows:
1. Go and download the most recent version of the SyncStation firmware to your computer.
2. Copy the “SyncStationFirmwareUploader” file to your computer, and double-click it. The file can be found on your Nuendo DVD or on the Steinberg web site mentioned above.
3. On the “MIDI Input” and “MIDI Output” pop-up menus, select SyncStation.
4. Click the “Verify SyncStation” button.
5. Click the Browse button to locate the firmware file (extension “.chf”) on your computer.
6. Select the CHF file, and click Open.
7. Make sure that the hardware and software versions displayed in the upper and in the lower sections of the dialog are identical, and click “Upload Firmware”.
8. Perform a factory reset of the SyncStation: On the SyncStation menu, open “Unit 07 – Install Template”, select “>Factory”, and confirm by pressing and holding the cursor down button.
9. Switch off the SyncStation, wait for four seconds, and restart it.
When the SyncStation does not boot correctly, you can boot it in a restricted mode in order to perform a firmware upload. Proceed as follows:
1. Keep the cursor down button of the SyncStation pressed, and switch it on.
2. The SyncStation displays the message “Load Firmware”.
3. Double-click the “SyncStationFirmwareUploader” file (see above).
4. On Windows 7/Vista and Mac OS X systems, select CB core on the “MIDI Input” and “MIDI Output” pop-up menus. On Windows XP systems, select “USB Audio Device”.
When performing a firmware upload in restricted mode, the “Verify SyncStation” function cannot be used.
5. Click the Browse button to locate the firmware file (extension “.chf”) on your computer.
6. Select the CHF file, and click Open.
7. Click “Upload Firmware”.
8. Perform a factory reset of the SyncStation: On the SyncStation menu, open “Unit 07 – Install Template”, select “>Factory”, and confirm by pressing and holding the cursor down button.
9. Switch off the SyncStation, wait for four seconds, and restart it.
