Wireless Connection Unavailable

Hello,
Here is our problem:
Friend of mine installed Windows 7.
For some time now, we have not been able to connect the router to my computer because it only offers me a broadband connection by cable or ADSL!
I feel like we have done our best. Is there a solution?
