Acer Aspire 5737Z BIOS Update Problem

Post by Nilton.Rosa »

Greetings,

I hope to find everyone well.

I have an Acer Aspire 5737Z x64 (laptop) with Windows 7 Ultimate installed.

I wish to update the BIOS regarding issues with two devices.

I have been to Acer's website and the flash file available is only compatible with x32 platform.

Please be so kind to provide the requested 'rar/zip' file.

Thank you.

Hello!

Follow this guide:
1. Install FreeDOS on your USB-drive. Use this image: https://www.freedos.org/download/download/FD12CD.iso (Freedos Official).
You can flash it (create bootable USB drive) via Rufus.
2. Download and copy this BIOS (1.10) (if your is lower) https://drivers.plus/it/acer-aspire-573 ... 10/225949/
to usb flash.
3. Boot from USB Drive using F8/F10/F12 buttons (it should show Boot Menu).
4. Then you will see FreeDOS menu:
a) go to bios folder using this command:

Code: Select all

cd foldername
b) and enter flashbios command:

Code: Select all

flashbios.exe
5. Then it will update your BIOS.
6. Remove USB drive and Reboot.

Hello,

First of all, thank you for response.

I have done as requested, but I have some concerns.

By booting the laptop (via USB) I have three options:

- Install to harddisk (in which I have the Windows 7 OS installed and desire not to overwrite it);
- Boot from system harddisk;
- Boot from diskette.

Please provide me with the steps so that I can install BIOS (v. 1.10).

Regards.

Nilton.Rosa, hello!

What's current version of BIOS you have?
Please check it in system settings.
Last version is 1.10 may be not able to fix your problems (if you have modern SSD for example).
(in which I have the Windows 7 OS installed and desire not to overwrite it)
Yes. It can overwrite your current boot record.
One of the solution to be 100% sure is to remove your current system HDD/SDD temporary until you will update the BIOS.
Without your HDD/SDD you can easily choose first option (Install to harddisk).
Please provide me with the steps so that I can install BIOS (v. 1.10).
Another solution is this one.
I just unpacked BIOS and here is what you will see:

1. Do the same. Unpack original archive.
It will be unpacked in C:\Windows\Temp\WINPHLASH

2. Then right click on WinPhlash.exe and choose Properties -> Compatibilty -> Comp.mode - Run the program .. for Windows Vista.
It should run without any error.
After that the computer will reboot and on the boot it will update the BIOS.

Regards, Roza.

Hello Roza,

I hope you are well.

I appologize for only replying at this point, but I only managed to update the BIOS yesterday.

Now, I have another techinical issue. I hope you can help me.

When I reboot the laptop (with Windows installed), the keyboard and touchpad don't work (inside the OS). This issue was already occuring with the previous BIOS version.

In the meanwhile, and during the reboot, if I continuously press the 'Esc' button the keyboard and touchpad work perfectly. I have updated all drivers.

Please assist me.

Thank you.

Hello!

So, BIOS upgrade went fine, corrent?

> keyboard/touchpad
Sounds like hardware problem. But it's not as long as you can use it in BIOS (right?).

Could you please connect external keyboard/mouse and give me screenshot of any red arrows in Device Manager?

Also please give me touchpad driver version (should be synaptics).

Hello.

Yes, external USB keyboard and mouse don't work.

The only way the keyboard and mouse work (internal and external) is if i press continuously the 'Esc' key before entering the OS.

I believe (and for some reason) the HDD is not accepting the correct drivers to communicate with the keyboard and mouse...

So, keyboard/touchpad (+ external) works in BIOS (without OS).
But they don't work in OS.
Also we don't see and errors (red arrows in device manager). It is very weird.

Did keyboard/touchpad work in the past?
Win 7 x32 Ultimate was original OS on this laptop?

Could you please check is USB port working or not?
Try to connect any USB flash disk. It works fine?
